Call it what you want: a man cave, kid corner, or a party room, a basement is always a space in a home where the imagination can take liberties. Phase One accentuated the clients' wishes for an industrial lower level complete with sealed flooring, a full kitchen and bathroom and plenty of open area to let loose.
In this project, Rochman Design Build converted an unfinished basement of a new Ann Arbor home into a stunning home pub and entertaining area, with commercial grade space for the owners' craft brewing passion. The feel is that of a speakeasy as a dark and hidden gem found in prohibition time. The materials include charcoal stained concrete floor, an arched wall veneered with red brick, and an exposed ceiling structure painted black. Bright copper is used as the sparkling gem with a pressed-tin-type ceiling over the bar area, which seats 10, copper bar top and concrete counters. Old style light fixtures with bare Edison bulbs, well placed LED accent lights under the bar top, thick shelves, steel supports and copper rivet connections accent the feel of the 6 active taps old-style pub. Meanwhile, the brewing room is splendidly modern with large scale brewing equipment, commercial ventilation hood, wash down facilities and specialty equipment. A large window allows a full view into the brewing room from the pub sitting area. In addition, the space is large enough to feel cozy enough for 4 around a high-top table or entertain a large gathering of 50. The basement remodel also includes a wine cellar, a guest bathroom and a room that can be used either as guest room or game room, and a storage area.
The homeowners had a very specific vision for their large daylight basement. To begin, Neil Kelly's team, led by Portland Design Consultant Fabian Genovesi, took down numerous walls to completely open up the space, including the ceilings, and removed carpet to expose the concrete flooring. The concrete flooring was repaired, resurfaced and sealed with cracks in tact for authenticity. Beams and ductwork were left exposed, yet refined, with additional piping to conceal electrical and gas lines. Century-old reclaimed brick was hand-picked by the homeowner for the east interior wall, encasing stained glass windows which were are also reclaimed and more than 100 years old. Aluminum bar-top seating areas in two spaces. A media center with custom cabinetry and pistons repurposed as cabinet pulls. And the star of the show, a full 4-seat wet bar with custom glass shelving, more custom cabinetry, and an integrated television-- one of 3 TVs in the space. The new one-of-a-kind basement has room for a professional 10-person poker table, pool table, 14' shuffleboard table, and plush seating.

Native House Photography A place for entertaining and relaxation. Inspired by natural and aviation. This mantuary sets the tone for leaving your worries behind. Once a boring concrete box, this space now features brick, sandblasted texture, custom rope and wood ceiling treatments and a beautifully crafted bar adorned with a zinc bar top. The bathroom features a custom vanity, inspired by an airplane wing. What do we love most about this space? We went for a speakeasy feel in this basement rec room space. Oversized sectional, industrial pool and shuffleboard tables, bar area with exposed brick and a built-in leather banquette for seating.

Client was looking for a bit of urban flair in her Alpharetta basement. To achieve some consistency with the upper levels of the home we mimicked the more traditional style columns but then complemented them with clean and simple shaker style cabinets and stainless steel appliances. By mixing brick and herringbone marble backsplashes an unexpected elegance was achieved while keeping the space with limited natural light from becoming too dark. Open hanging industrial pipe shelves and stained concrete floors complete the look.

We were lucky to work with a blank slate in this nearly new home. Keeping the bar as the main focus was critical. With elements like the gorgeous tin ceiling, custom finished distressed black wainscot and handmade wood bar top were the perfect compliment to the reclaimed brick walls and beautiful beam work. With connections to a local artist who handcrafted and welded the steel doors to the built-in liquor cabinet, our clients were ecstatic with the results. Other amenities in the bar include the rear wall of stainless built-ins, including individual refrigeration, freezer, ice maker, a 2-tap beer unit, dishwasher drawers and matching Stainless Steel sink base cabinet.

Декоративная металлическая межкомнатная перегородка, которая визуально продлевает широкий дверной проём.
Общей идеей дизайнера и хозяев было создание трансформирующегося интерьера, который при необходимости становился бы либо игровой площадкой для детей, либо рабочей зоной для родителей.
Как уже поняли завсегдатаи нашего портала, перед дизайнером Дэвидом Амундсоном была поставлена конкретная задача, которая принадлежала семейной паре из Миннесоты, воспитывающей двоих детей.
Их совершенно не устраивала фиксированная расстановка мебели на нижнем этаже. Они хотели, чтобы диваны, тахта и даже системы для хранения с лёгкостью передвигались из одного места в другое.
Также существовало стремление к визуальной открытости и наполненности большим количеством света, причём отдельные зоны требовали индивидуального освещения.
В результате получились около двухсот квадратных метров универсальной площади с ярким и интересным декором, которая необходима обитателям жилья всех возрастов.
В первую очередь была выбрана подвижная мягкая мебель, включающая диванчики и пуфик, которые элементарно разбираются и переставляются даже слабыми детскими ручками, чтобы было удобнее смотреть телевизор или играть.
Амундсон оставил восточную сторону комнаты открытой, так что никто не будет чувствовать себя ограниченным при перестановке вещей. Вся атмосфера поощряет владельцев дома к творчеству и свободе.
В большие окна проникает много естественного света, отражающегося от выкрашенных белой краской стен, что способствует зрительному расширению зала.
Специалист стремился достичь такого эффекта, который в итоге разрушил сложившийся стереотип домовладельцев, воспринимавших подземный этаж как тёмное, мрачное подземелье.
Для лицевой отделки на общем совете выбрали нейтральную цветовую палитру серого, синего и зелёного, которая навевает ассоциацию с небольшой лесной посадкой.
Кстати, именно эти оттенки способны скрывать грязные разводы, потёки краски и пятна от еды. Изюминкой интерьера можно считать зелёные ящики для хранения.
Эти незаменимые короба цвета голубой ели от Бенджамина Мура вносят нотку веселья и непринуждённости, ведь они изготовлены специально для маленьких озорников, которые вместо того, чтобы переносить игрушки из одного угла в другой, таскают за собой эти ящики, то наполняя, то опустошая их.
Таким образом, декоратор максимально упростил процесс уборки для ребятишек.
Также здесь находятся две рабочие области для занятий различным ремеслом, представляющие собой столешницы, укреплённые вдоль двух стен, на которых подвешены специальные бумажные рулоны для очистки рук от краски, клея и других побочных эффектов творчества.
Ролики центрального стола позволяют перевозить его туда, где он необходим в данный момент. Его поверхность специально сделана из нержавеющей стали, чтобы на нём не оставалось царапин от острых предметов, и он легко отмывался от грязи.
Кстати, его автором также стал Бенджамин Мур.
Напольным покрытием является бетон, так как он может выдержать и игры в пинг-понг, и строительство железной дороги, и катание на роликах, и другие активные виды игр.
Его только покрыли краской тёплого коричневого оттенка, чтобы ещё более укрепить и как можно дольше избежать ежедневного износа.
Кухонный уголок позволяет приготовить еду и перекусить, не отрываясь от важных дел и не поднимаясь на верхние этажи. Каждый член семьи может контролировать и формировать обстановку так, как ему удобно в данный конкретный момент времени.
Нельзя не упомянуть и о туалетной комнате, которая также облегчает жизнь домовладельцам.
